[The message comes at 3 AM a few days after Jon's been incarcerated for a week.]
Is there something that's like sexting, but without the sex? Romantic sexting? Romexting sounds ridiculous.
[Jon is bored out of his mind, has been unable to sleep in this unfamiliar and unsafe place for the past 48 hours, and is without work to occupy himself. He can't even do Elias' stupid 'homework' without tempting fate on losing himself to his powers. That will almost certainly result in getting shot and left in an unconscious heap for half a day.]
[Peter is.....not awake at 3am. So, at least 4 to 5 hours later, a response comes.]
Romexting DOES sound a bit silly. I don't know that there's a phrase for what you're talking about, specifically. I think it would probably just be flirting over text?
[Thanks to Elias, whom he will never thank, Jon has been able to catch an hour or two of sleep, at least. It means he groans at himself when he reads what he'd written last night.]
Ignore that. Sorry. I've just been having trouble sleeping in the cell.
There's a video camera pointing directly into my cell and they have a gag on me. Unless you have some trick to hide yourself, I'm not sure you'd get anything out of it apart from arrested.
[That's really not the same thing but Peter is also fairly certain Jon isn't wrong.]
I don't think I've heard of anyone TRYING. Though, I will say that after the breakout from Fort Harmony, they were very keen to collect anyone who didn't make their way back to the city. Which is to say, I tried not to. My contract partner and I were going to see about living out in the woods for a time but that plan was foiled.
It's good you had someone else with you, but I still can't imagine it being tenable long-term. Veracity's a city, at least. As run-down as I've heard it is. I wonder if they have cannibals like Insincerity...
[You know what, he is not dignifying half of that with a response.
I hope not. At least in Insincerity, it seems to be more of an experience than an every-day option. I would assume if they're also in Veracity, it's...as opposed to other options.

[...Jon barely sleeps well normally.]
I know there's probably not much I can do from the outside but if there is anything....
I could break in to keep you company for a bit.
[That may or may not be a serious offer.

And I love you, of course, but I don't think my getting stuck in jail will do either of us any favors.
I'd propose breaking you out, but there's nowhere for us to run, unfortunately.

Or maybe we could vanish into Veracity.
Considering they've decided they're going to force us to talk about our quotas now, I'd be fine with that.
no subject
Veracity, though, that's not such a terrible idea. Would Martin be easily convinced, do you think?
no subject
[Which... isn't really the same thing.]
Have you heard of anyone else being able to actually survive there without LIES coming to fetch them?

I don't think I've heard of anyone TRYING.

How would you eat?

My contract partner was more familiar with 'roughing it'. We managed for several days.

I've also seen how you live.

That's how you get prion disease, isn't it?

In any case, some people enjoy doing the taboo. Or at least being able to say they've done so, once. Or they're simply curious.
I assume.
no subject
And better taboos to break.
[So sayeth the Archivist.]
Although, I wonder if you made stock with human bones what it might taste like.
I have my ribs here...

Just a thought.
Jared said they were a bit funny somehow, though.
They look like normal ribs to me.
I wonder if I should have them examined by someone.

no subject
Wouldn't you be?
Most people don't get to examine their own ribs.

Who is Jared?

The Boneturner... hence.
He serves the Flesh.
